The CDLA is proud to present this exciting learning opportunity to its young/newer lawyer community.

The program will be a series of monthly events covering many aspects of defense practice. Each event will be approximately one hour, with the first 15-20 minutes a teaching session by an experienced, senior attorney of the defense bar, who will then take questions and exit the event, allowing the young attorneys an opportunity to discuss and ask questions among themselves without the pressure or concern presented by the presence of a potential employer or hiring partner.

Topics covered will include, among others:

  • Reviewing, assessing, and handling pleadings and pre-answer motion practice; discovery including non-standard discovery, requests for admission

  • Deposition strategy for party, non-party, and expert depositions; advocacy at alternative dispute resolution hearings such as mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences, including negotiation tactics; and pre-trial, trial, and post-trial motion practice, advocacy, and practice tips.  The program will also cover useful general topics such as navigating discovery disputes, corresponding and interacting with difficult or belligerent members of the plaintiffs' bar, and courtroom decorum.

Presenters:

Erika Amarante, CDLA President, and Partner at Wiggin and Dana

James Noonan: CDLA Past President and Partner at Ryan Ryan and DeLuca

Cost:

Free for both CDLA Members and Non-Members

CLE Credit:

Participants will receive approximately .5 CLE credits for session one.  (Future sessions may vary).

We look forward to seeing you there!
